KidsMatter Volunteer Fair Aims to Match Teen Volunteers with Service Opportunities
The 10th annual KidsMatter Youth Volunteer Fair expects to connect 800+ enthusiastic students & families with 25+ nonprofits on Tuesday, October 2, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The annual Youth Volunteer Fair for students grades 6 through 12 will be held at the Naperville Municipal City Municipal Center located at 400 South Eagle Street. Local nonprofit agencies and organizations will be on hand to showcase their volunteer and advocacy opportunities, enabling students to find service venues that match their interests, major, career goals, and schedules. This free Fair is open to all students from area middle and high schools, and is an ideal opportunity for youth groups from faith communities, scout troops, and other youth organizations to choose their service projects.
Over 28 nonprofits who need youth volunteers to deliver their services will be participating in this year’s Fair. These are all locally based groups such as: the American Cancer Society, Little Friends, the DuPage Children’s Museum, the Morton Arboretum, Loaves and Fishes, 360 Youth Services, the Naperville Public Library, the Naperville Park District, Feed My Starving Children, and the YMCA. Each organization will have representatives on hand to discuss the exciting opportunities they have for both students and families to positively impact the lives of other people.
As our young Naperville residents consider their extracurricular activities, KidsMatter wants to connect them with opportunities that will give them a sense of purpose, provide them with valuable hands-on experiences they can build on for college and into adulthood, and ignite the volunteer spirit that has helped make Naperville the thriving community it is today.
KidsMatter thanks the Rotary Club of Naperville and the Naperville Jaycees for their sponsorship of this event. For more information, please contact Bridget Hatch, KidsMatter New Media Coordinator, 630-995-0275 or bridget@kidsmatter2us.org.
