8th Annual Skaters’ Picnic

Sponsored by KidsMatter, the Naperville Police Department,and the Naperville Park District Police, in partnership with the Naperville Jaycees

Over 400 Skaters of all ages came to the Centennial Beach Skate Park in downtown Naperville on Saturday, September 3, from 11 am – 2 pm, for the 8th Annual Skaters’ Picnic during the Jaycees Last Fling Celebration.

Skaters:

  • Were treated to a free picnic lunch served by KidsMatter and the Naperville Police
  • Watched professional skaters in action from Character Skateboards
  • Listened to some great music provided by Ben Wiersum Sound Technology
  • Received a free raffle ticket for a drawing of great prizes including a signed skate board deck by Tony Hawk, courtesy of Anderson’s Bookshop and donated by Tony Hawk and Capstone Publishers

In addition, the first 100 skaters received a free T-shirt commemorating the event. Naperville’s own Mayor Pradel was on hand to pass out the raffle prizes to the lucky winners. As always, ther Donut Eating Contest between the police and the skaters and the “Bakers Square” Pie Eating Contest was a huge hit! Also new this year was a game of S-K-A-T-E!
