2010 KidsMatter Volunteer Fair – Providing Service Opportunities for Youth!

Wednesday, September 22, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM

  Naperville Municipal Center, 400 Eagle Street

KidsMatter is hosting its annual Volunteer Fair for students in grades 6 – 12 who are looking for opportunities to volunteer their time and energy.

  • Students from all area middle schools and high schools are invited to participate in this free Fair.
  • Students will be able to connect with representatives from over 25 local agencies/organizations that offer volunteer service opportunities for youth. 

A few of the organizations we are pleased to have this year include:

  • Naper Settlement
  • Northern Illinois Food Bank
  • Naperville Public Library
  • Western DuPage Special Recreation Association
  • American Cancer Society
  • DuPage Children’s Museum
  • Feed My Starving Children
  • The Fry Family YMCA
  • Naperville Park District 

Special highlights include mini-workshops on:

  • Creating a Service Profile for College Applications & Resumes
  • Family Volunteering – Creating Life-long Patterns of Service in Kids! 

As always, parents are welcome to accompany their students and family service opportunities will also be available at the majority of agencies attending the Fair.

2010 Skaters’ Picnic

7th Annual Skaters’ Picnic
Sponsored by KidsMatter, the Naperville Police Department,
and the Naperville Park District Police,
in partnership with the Naperville Jaycees

Skaters of all ages are invited to the Centennial Beach Skate Park in downtown Naperville on Saturday, September 4, from 11 am – 2 pm, for the 7th Annual Skaters’ Picnic.

Skaters will:

  • be treated to a free picnic lunch served by KidsMatter and the Naperville Police
  • watch professional skaters in action from Character Skateboards
  • listen to some great music provided by Ben Wiersum Sound Technology
  • receive a free raffle ticket for a drawing of great prizes

In addition, the first 100 skaters will receive a free T-shirt commemorating the event.  Naperville’s own Mayor Pradel will be on hand to pass out the raffle prizes to the lucky winners.  A special highlight will be our Donut Eating Contest between the police and the skaters! New this year is a Pie Eating Contest.
